About the show

Bringing the week's politics home

Hosted by Ndukwe Onuoha and Cheta Nwanze, The Black Paper looks at UK politics through the lens of African heritage communities, many of whom are recent migrants.

What we do

Every week, we take the week's politics apart and ask the question nobody else is asking: what does this actually mean for African heritage communities in Britain — and how can we be a part of the conversation?

Alongside the podcast, we publish written briefings, run community surveys on how African heritage voters see the issues, and give listeners practical ways to take part — like writing to their MP.

What we cover

  • Westminster and party politics, from Labour and the Conservatives to Reform UK
  • Immigration and visa rules, and how they affect African communities
  • Housing, work and the cost of living
  • Race, faith, equality and community life in Britain
  • The diaspora's links with politics across Africa

The Black Paper is independent and has been published weekly since May 2025. It is produced by We Are Griots and Wey Dem Ventures.
